What I do

CHECK THAT YOUR FILM IDEA WILL WORK

Too often people dive in to making a "documentary" without thinking about whether it really would work as a film that an audience would want to watch. By asking you a few basic questions I can see if your film idea is likely to work. If it doesn't I'll help you find ways to make it work.

INSPIRE YOU

Once you've worked on your idea and can see its potential to be a great film I am a great proponent of making films by any means necessary. As someone who has succesfully produced and directed two ultra-low budget feature films I know a thing or two about what it takes to get your film made come what may.

FIND THE BEST WAY TO TELL YOUR STORY

Assuming your idea works I can work with you on finding the best way to move forward - making decisions about how your film will be told - choosing the best way to film and edit it for example.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Working from my 8 Step Plan that I developed as a documentary director I can very quickly and efficiently get you to answer the key questions that will determine if you have an idea, and assuming that you have, help guide you to making a film that will truly engage with an audience.

HELP YOU WITH A PROBLEM EDIT

If you've got a rough-cut of your film and it's not quite working I can watch it then help you turn it around. Even though I've succesfully done this on a number of occasions I strongly recommend you work on your idea earlier rather than later in the process.

TEACH YOU THE BASICS

It's so easy nowadays to pick up a camera and start filming something - and very likely that what is finally edited together won't be seen by many people. I'm committed to making films that truly connect and engage with an audience. In the process of our consultation I can go over a few basic rules that will not only help the film you're making, but all your future ones.
